This unit covers fundamental data types in Java, such as integers, floating-point numbers, characters, and boolean values. Students learn how to declare variables, perform basic arithmetic operations, and understand data type conversions.

Unit 1: Introduction to Java & Primitive Data Types

In this unit, students delve into object-oriented programming (OOP) by exploring how to create and use objects. They learn about classes, constructors, and methods to start building more complex programs.

Unit 2: Using Objects

This unit introduces boolean expressions, logical operators, and the use of conditional statements (if statements) to make decisions in code. Students learn how to control program flow based on conditions.

Unit 3: Boolean Expressions and If-Statements

Students learn about loops, specifically the for and while loops, to repeat actions in their programs. They also explore techniques for controlling loops, like the break and continue statements.

Unit 4: Iteration

This unit delves deeper into Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) by teaching students how to define and implement their own classes. They create custom objects with fields and methods, encapsulating behavior and data into more efficient structures.

Unit 5: Writing Classes

Students explore one-dimensional arrays in this unit, learning how to declare, initialize, and manipulate arrays. They also gain experience with common array algorithms like searching and sorting.

Unit 6: Arrays

Building on the concept of Arrays, we begin to tackle the various branches of the Collections hierarchy starting with the incredibly versatile ArrayList structure. Students learn how to work with dynamic arrays, adding and removing elements as needed, while also gaining a greater understanding of the design advantages and disadvantages that differ Arrays from ArrayLists.

Unit 7: ArrayLists & the Collections Interface

This unit extends array knowledge to two-dimensional arrays, enabling students to work with tables and grids of data. They learn how to declare, initialize, and manipulate 2D arrays.

Unit 8: 2D Arrays

In this unit, students delve into the concept of inheritance, a fundamental principle of object-oriented programming (OOP). Inheritance allows students to create relationships between classes, enabling one class to inherit attributes and methods from another. This unit also covers topics such as method accessors, overriding, and overloading.

Unit 9: Inheritance & Polymorphism

The final unit introduces the concept of recursion, a problem-solving technique where algorithms are broken down into smaller self-referential components. This unit challenges students to think critically and creatively, enabling them to tackle some of the most intricate computational problems with elegance and precision.

Unit 10: Recursion

This Python course is designed to familiarize newcomers to the concepts of Computer Science by lowering the syntactical barrier-to-entry. Students will learn how and when to use given data structures as well as the essential algorithms and how to classify them.
