Background

Hello! My name is Sinéad. I am a native English speaker from Ireland. I am a TEFL-qualified English tutor. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree in Health Sciences (Palliative Care).

Most recently, I completed a certificate in Teaching English Pronunciation. Improving pronunciation is crucial for students who want to communicate well in English. This course has developed my knowledge and given me practical classroom skills to teach pronunciation effectively. 

I have also completed the OET Teacher Training to help nurses and doctors pass the Occupational English Test. I help develop skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking, so that they can pass the test and land their dream job.

I am passionate about teaching English to healthcare professionals. I worked as a nurse for 5 years in Ireland so my experience has helped me greatly in supporting non-native English speakers to feel more confident in the English-speaking healthcare environment. 

What to expect

In the trial lesson, we’ll make a plan for our lessons. I’ll share the resources and topics I use. We'll also discuss your preferences and requests. This way, we can be sure that the lessons are personalized, dynamic and interesting.

Topics for the lessons

Based on what we planned in the trial lesson, we will work on your English level in an individualized way.

If your goal is communicating with healthcare professionals and patients in the hospital setting, we can focus on speaking activities, role plays and building your medical vocabulary. 

If you are struggling with grammar, I design lessons to help you better understand and practice with real-life scenarios.

All corrections are written down during the lesson so that you have a record of these mistakes, which makes it easier for you to review and improve. 

General English topics can, of course, be included (there’s more to life than work after all!).
