Overview:
My Sales Journey: - My first actual sales experience was for a diamond cutting factory, back in 2009, I had to drive around with a box of loose certified diamonds and do door-to-door sales at jewelry stores. I quit about a year after once I realized that it was not the safest job to be doing. - Shortly thereafter, I got a job that was commission based only, with an online store selling engagement rings, this was an`in-bound leads’ sales role, the leads would come in through the website and were divided amongst the sales team accordingly, whereby I had to work with the client’s budget in order to achieve what the client’s needs were. I enjoyed this type of sales because I had to work with the client to customize what they wanted, according to their budget, and the end result was rewarding. *Looking back, I’m glad that I got these sales jobs as it improved my communication skills 10X, they basically turned me from being an introvert to an extrovert, and it improved my ‘not give AF’ meter by a ton. It also improved my tolerance to awkward / uncomfortable situations – in life we run into this all the time, but in reality you choose to make it awkward or not. *In other words, it eliminated my fear – I was no longer afraid to talk to anyone, even a stranger on the street. Why I’m saying this is because Sales helps your overall confidence in life! *Personally, I don’t like the word ‘sales’, because ‘sales’ just means ‘communication’. Being a ‘salesperson’ is about being a great communicator and providing a particular solution to people’s needs / problems for a company or a client. (B2B or B2C) - Fast forward a few years later. I then started working for my dad’s company, a cleaning business that specializes in commercial kitchen facility equipment cleaning. This was a cold-calling and closing sales role. I had to call potential clients off a list and try sell them our services, and set up face-to-face meetings with prospect’s and try close them on our services. - At present moment: I now have decided to change my personal life, my sales goals and my sales journey, I want to work remotely and have realized that in order to do that,I will have to start working and selling online. - So, with that in mind, so far, I have been studying appointment setting and high ticket closing for a while now via YouTube and free courses & have been practicing `live role calling’ with fellow students on closing groups that I’m a part of. I’m currently looking for my first `gig / offer’ to sell for in order to gain experience in this space, I’m super hungry to learn, and am willing to start as a setter and work myself up as I prove myself. I’m very eager to learn more sales skills, ready to take what I’ve learned so far from my classes and practicing, and apply it to the real world.
