Hello, I'm an American ESL teacher here to help you improve your speaking skills. I offer conversational English, vocabulary-focused lessons, grammar assistance, Business English and test preparation. I have access to many textbooks and worksheets, but we can also use real-world English sources like movie clips, TV shows, music, articles, podcasts, etc. to expand your vocabulary. My teaching style can be described as calm, patient, and relaxed. I've taught over 1000 students online and I'm ready to help you level-up your English.

    Hello, I'm Curt. Join me for a FREE trail lesson! As a TEFL certified English teacher I have helped over a 1000 students grow their English skills and confidence in speaking. My work background includes managing a fast-paced business and a lot of travel. I look forward to hearing about your experiences! In this FREE 20 minute lesson: * I will introduce myself and then listen to your introduction to understand your level of speaking. * We will discuss your goals in taking English lessons. * We can choose a format of lessons which will help you achieve your goals. * This is a time to discuss your goals and expectations, as well as get to know my teaching style. I will offer brief feedback on your speaking at the end of our lesson.

About Me

My American English accent can be described as Upper-Midwestern. Basketball and football are favorite sports of mine. If you like the NBA or any professional sports, let's chat about them! Topics I enjoy discussing are current events, history, inventions, films, self-improvement, family, pets, and so much more. As a traveler I've visited more than 20 countries and have abroad in Europe since 2019. Prior to being an English teacher I worked in management in the retail pharmacy business. I obtained my TEFL Certificate from The Language House, Prague, Czech Republic. September 2019 ā— 130- hour intensive teacher training course ā— The Language House is a recognized member of the College of Teachers, U.K. Fully accredited and externally monitored by the International Accreditation of TESOL Qualifying Organizations I earned a Bachelor degree in Interdisciplinary Studies - Public Administration from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona and graduated Summa Cum Laude in December 2018.

  • IELTS speaking preparation

    I have helped many students practice for the speaking portion of their IELTS exams and have access to mock exams. I listen carefully, take notes, and provide detailed feedback after each speaking session.

  • Job interview preparation

    I have extensive experience interviewing candidates in my previous career in management. As a teacher I comfortably play the role of interviewer and help student job-seekers practice job interviews in English.

  • Cambridge: B2 (FCE) Writing help/feedback

    I've helped many students prepare for FCE writing tasks and often give detailed feedback on student's written works.

  • Vocabulary study and American English lexicon

    Highlighting new and different ways to say things is a top skill of mine. I've helped many students who were preparing for time abroad in the USA. I'm excellent at creating specific homework, study aids, and games related to the vocabulary you need to learn.

    Teaches multiple weekly 90-minute English lessons for small groups of learners aged 9 to 16. Experience teaching a weekly 90-minute Maturita Exam prep lesson for a 1on1 student. Weekly 1on1 lessons with young adults focused on grammar and conversational English. Taught a small group of teenage students in a weeklong summer camp program, and designed multiple lessons daily.
